Places to Eat: Grant's Donair

Grant's Donair is a quaint eatery owned by local couple Richard and Claire. The business can be found at 99 University Ave on the Chatham side of the river.

The couple serve a variety of different foods, including chicken wings, chicken nuggets, burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, wraps, french fries and of course their signature donairs.

The donairs come in three different sizes with one pound of meat in the monster donar, half a pound of meat in their large donair and a quarter pound of meat in their regular donair.

The couple serve their donairs with diced tomatoes and onions, lettuce and their homemade donair sauce. The meat in the donair has a spicy kick to it, which adds an extra level of flavour to the sandwich.

Festivals and Events: Metepenagiag Mi'kmaq Nation Powwow

The annual Metepenagiag Mi'kmaq Nation Powwow took place over the weekend of June 20 to 22. Every year, members of the local First Nations communities gather to take part in the festivities.

As part of the fun, there was traditional cultural dancing and drumming, with many members of the communities in traditional dress.

Drumming.

In addition to dance and drumming competitions, there are meals shared among family and friends in the lodge on the powwow grounds. There are also several tents set up with vendors from all over, selling hand made crafts of all kinds, from woven baskets to dream catchers and much more.
