Festivals and Events: Metepenagiag Mi'kmaq Nation Powwow

The annual Metepenagiag Mi'kmaq Nation Powwow took place over the weekend of June 20 to 22. Every year, members of the local First Nations communities gather to take part in the festivities.

As part of the fun, there was traditional cultural dancing and drumming, with many members of the communities in traditional dress.

In addition to dance and drumming competitions, there are meals shared among family and friends in the lodge on the powwow grounds. There are also several tents set up with vendors from all over, selling hand made crafts of all kinds, from woven baskets to dream catchers and much more.

If you're looking to enjoy a part of Miramichi culture in an authentic way, attend one of the many powwows that take place in the First Nations communities over the summer.
