In the Newcastle area, there is the town square, where you can find a number of small locally-owned shops.
Boutiques and The Medicine Shoppe.

Bakery, the co-operations and Vogue Optical.
Jewelry store and space for rent.
These stores all surround Queen Elizabeth Park, which is a nice spot to hang out in the summer and is frequently used for events in the Newcastle downtown area.

Another spot to go shopping in Newcastle is the Miramichi Mall.

Still on the Newcastle side of the river, there is the a few spots to go in Douglastown. First there is a mini strip mall. Here there are more locally-owned businesses.

Then there's the Northumberland Square Mall, which has two parts to it. There's the side that's all connected together and then the strip mall side.

There's also a Canadian Tire.
Moving along to the bridge, there is two power centers and then a Wal-Mart.

Across the street from that Power Center is the one with Payless, Sally Beauty and Dollarama.

One the Chatham side of the river, there is the downtown shopping district on Water Street, where there are a lot of locally-owned stores.
Barber shop.
Banking and finance places.
Seafood store and art gallery.
Music shop and Great Canadian Dollar Store.
Gamezilla and barber shop.
Tattoo shop, dentist and bridal/dress store.
Bank and Tim Hortons.
Napan Baykery, costume store and The Multicultural Association.
A few convenience stores.

Financial places.
Flower shop and bike shop.
Hospice Shoppe and another independent store.
The other shopping center in Chatham is located around the corner and is more so for food.
There's a grocery store, a liquor store, pizza place, post office, Jean Coutu and another restaurant.
